Hon Dr. Almajiri Geidam
A seasoned politician and philanthropist, Dr. Geidam acquired a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Maiduguri (1989).
Dr. Geidam has had a distinguished career in Public Service ranging from Borno State Civil Service where he served in the Maiduguri Veterinary Clinic, in 1991. In the same year, he was re-deployed to Yobe State following the State’s creation and became the zonal veterinary Officer in Gashua, and thereafter the veterinary adviser for the North East arid zone development programme in Garin Alkali in 1993.
Dr. Geidam led the team that established the veterinary diagnostic laboratory in Gashua and was promoted to principal veterinary officer in the headquarters in Damaturu in 1997.
A seasoned politician, Dr. Geidam served as a ward councillor, Supervisory councillor for works and Vice chairman Geidam Local Government council, 1996-1997. He was elected to the Yobe State House of Assembly in 1997, but that Assembly was not proclaimed. He was in the House of Representatives where he represented Bursari/Geidam/Yunusari Federal Constituency for two terms, 1999-2003 and 2003-2007. He was Chairman House committee on public Accounts, 1999-2003 and ANPP (Minority) Whip, 2005– 2007.
Dr. Geidam is married with children.
